Anyone?
I found this plant and rhizome while cleaning one of my gardens today. Anyone know what it is?

cinquefoil...sp? It looks very familiar..something I have seen while poking arround in the field..dont know
i know it isn't cinquefoil because the leaves aren't five-sided. i have it too, and sometimes it makes little white or pale yellow flowers... i thought it was wild strawberry...
No, deinitely not cinquefoil. Not wild strawberry either, while the leaves are . . . close (BTW - wild strawberries have white flowers, false strawberries have yellow).
At first glance I thought it might be goldenthread, but the root is "wrong." There is that single nodule, a rhizome I presume, that the roots stem from.
I'll keep asking around . . . and I welcome more input here too! It's a lovely little plant and it wants me to know its name.
