While clearing and burning the cut brush from under the cedar yesterday we discovered the beautiful Urtica dioica - nettles! - flourishing away. The tallest of the plants are about two inches high and I suspect that when I get back from easter travels they'll be ready for a first full harvest for a nice nutritional simmered side dish. Oh, how nice to have this to look forward to when I return!
In New England, we see pumpkins everywhere in the fall. It is Autumn's
official mascot, adding charm to decor and spice to our muffins, coffee,
and pastr...

nettles are yummy when done just right too! lucky you , haven't seen any up in the gardens here yet.. but i have hope
I look forward to the springtime nettles ... and plucking them to enjoy now, also ensures an abundant production of seeds later!
Are those stinging nettles? We used to PURPOSEFULLY run thru them. Kinda crazy, since it felt like wasps stinging, but I think supposedly I'll never get arthritis now, from doing so.
That's beautiful, so vibrant and green! I don't have any nettles that I've seen so far. Enjoy them!
