Dandelion Petals

The dandelions are blooming. I nearly squeal with excitement when I see their sunny heads raised to the sky. I harvested a small bunch today and sat in the shade to lovingly pluck the petals. Now, I sometimes add these to pancakes and biscuits, sprinkle them on a salad or garnish a soup with them … but these ...

… these were bagged up and placed in the freezer. As the dandelions continue their blooming - and they will - I'll keep harvesting and adding to the freezer bag. When I have enough (whatever that turns out to be) I'll start a batch of dandelion wine, or liquid sunshine, as I like to call it.

They're beautiful, aren't they?

Wow! I don't know you, but I just posted a blog about dandelions too. Not the same as yours, but amazing synchronicity! Love your post :) I'd love to try dandelion wine...

Damn! I never considered freezing the petals! Sheer genius. :)

They are glorious! Great liver tonic. I like to put dandelion leaves in my green smoothie. I have to say though that we don't have many around here in FL.

I've always thought that dandelions were beautiful, especially when you see a whole field of them. A long time ago, back in Melrose Park, IL., my best friends mother used to go to each neighbors house and the fields and pick the dandelions to make wine and use in salads. Gosh, I miss those days. Thank you for the memory~~~
